a post worth 20 thousand words

if a picture is worth a thousand words, this post is worth a lot.
so you're welcome.

for allan's birthday/valentines weekend, his momma came to stay with us and we took her on a few adventures.

we went up to north shore for some ice cream from this place we love

and I was really hoping it wasn't going to be too dark when we got there because the whole town is so freaking cute& I wanted to take pictures for you guys

buuuuttt... of course it was too dark by the time we got there :(

the next day we went to Chinatown& I took a lot of pictures as we were walking around, but looking back on them later they all looked like crap. except this cat, who I wanted to buy but the lady said no

we also finally went to Kualoa Ranch where our friend Tolliver works as an atv tour guide. the Ranch is where tons of movies& shows have been filmed- Jurassic Park, Godzilla, Lost, 50 First Dates, Hawaii 5-O -and tons more. aside from that, it's just one of the most beautiful places ever.

the view without us in the way

ancient Hawaiians were buried in the mountains behind us. that tree line is as close as any one is allowed to get because it's sacred.

if you couldn't tell, these two pictures could be connected side by side and you'd get an almost 360 view of the valley

Godzilla was here.
also those foot prints used to be 15 feet deep but had to be filled in because the cows kept falling in.

if you think I posted this picture twice because I'm dumb, you're wrong- this is on the other side of the valley, in the other picture we were standing abooout right behind my head

sometimes we take super great pictures in super beautiful places

"that hut back there is part of Jurassic Park 4. We didn't stop by it when we passed because we're not allowed to take pictures of it yet. But that mountain behind it is one of the tallest peaks on Oahu if you want to take a picture of that..."
hint hint.

Milkshake Night

When little Bon first came into our family and I would take her everywhere with me because I couldn't trust her to stay home alone for more than 10 minutes without peeing everywhere and she was still small enough to slip through the fences, she always rode shot gun. My mom made a comment about "please don't become one of those crazy dog people..." Mom. come on. have a little faith in me. I'm not a crazy dog person.

A few months later I posted a picture of her riding on my lap... "uhg! you ARE one of those dog owners!"  ...well! She was so little that she was just slipping around every where! She needed to sit on my lap for her own safety. I'm not a crazy person. And she's not even spoiled... not even thaat spoiled.

One time I gave us matching pedicures.

Sometimes she sleeps in our bed with us.

I only get a little bit annoyed now when she jumps on the couches
right. after I vacuum her fur off them.

So I have to admit, she's gotten kind of spoiled.

Well tonight we made her a milkshake. And after that I can't even deny it anymore- Bonnie is the most spoiled dog in the world. And I'm not even very embarrassed... I mean, a little bit.. but not that much.
that's dog ice cream, with dog cookies.

And she loved it!

we just made our dog a milkshake.. it's kind of shameful.. but kind of happy..
it's not even shameful! there is nothing wrong with loving our baby!!

Catching Up

so... it's been awhile
here's what you've missed (sans pictures for most, cause i suck)

For halloween I decorated the house with voodoo dolls, cause I'm creepy

Also I got a biiiit of a scratch from a wolverine

Probably about the first weekend in November we went shopping for our Christmas tree and our decorations. The next weekend we got a little anxious and put the tree up (sorry Thanksgiving... #notsorry)

November 7th was the Marine Corps Ball. I meant to take lots of pictures of the day, but also knew I'd fail. So of course we ended up buying the picture set again. Cause we had to have some sort of documentation of the ball!

Allan and the guys at his shop built the cake.
yes, "built"
apparently it's just a wooden form that then gets covered in frosting...
which I thought was pretty interesting.

except for this tiiiny corner which is a little slice of actual cake that they cut as part of the ceremony.
With their swords ?!
yup. with their swords.

Thanksgiving I cooked my first feast for eight of allan's buddies. Allan deep fried the turkey (which was freakin delicious and I highly recommend it to anyone who has ever thought about trying it) I made a ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, deviled eggs (because it doesn't count as thanksgiving unless there's deviled eggs), potato salad, rolls with honey butter, spinach and artichoke dip, a double layer pumpkin pie, gram's famous buttercake... and then there was the green bean casserole. I've never eaten nor cooked one before. But two days before thanksgiving allan says you're making green bean casserole, right? um.... it's not thanksgiving without green bean casserole!! okay! just know I've never made that before! needless to say it was a disaster. I wish I'd thought to take a picture of it, but also I'm glad I didn't because it looked like someone ate green bean casserole, then threw it back up into my dish. It was the saddest thing I've ever cooked... By the time I finished cooking everything, I (&I'm sure everyone else) was so hungry we dug in before I got a picture of the feast. I almost took a picture of the remains after everyone finished, but no one wants to look at pictures of kitchens that look like a tornado blew threw it.

I think we were in a Thanksgiving food coma for about a month after that. It took us until maybe a week and a half before Christmas before we put up our lights and decorations outside. People probably thought we were the biggest scrooges. Allan decided two days before that he wanted to do a dinner with a fried turkey again, so I went to the store and...

we were terribly sad. So we ended up getting a chicken instead. The next morning we opened presents and called families. It was a great day, but again I didn't get any pictures cause I'm the worst at that. That night we had a few friends over to join us for our Christmas dinner. And guess what? the chicken turned out even BETTER than the turkey!

For New Years Eve we talked about going to Waikiki to watch some fireworks, but I worked the next morning so that plan didn't make it very far past the "planning" stage. We turned on the tv and watched the ball drop in New York (at 7:00. it was a little weird). the TV stayed on as me& jenn chatted in the living room and the boys hung out outside. So we watched the ball drop again at 8:00... and again at 9:00... then I got too tired and went up to bed. Because apparently I'm getting too old for this "stay up till midnight nonsense"

For Christmas Allan's dad sent us this cute little sign.
excuse it's crooked hanging.
just don't even go there.

At first we didn't know where we were going to put it, as we don't have anything on the walls yet and it'd look funny hanging all by it's lonesome.... so we decided we would just have to make a Bonnie Themed picture wall!

Allan is too grumpy and say's it looks like she died& we haven't gotten over it yet. I say she's our baby and people always have pictures of their babies up in their house so get over it.

And that pretty much gets us all caught up. I promise to try to take more pictures for next time. Also to update more often so you guys don't get to missing us toooo terribly much.

Sea Life Park

This past weekend we went to the Sea Life Park (aka: tiny SeaWorld).
I went in determined to take lots of pictures of our adventure (obviously I didn't do so great) so I guess these are the highlights you get

these little lovebirds couldn't stop smoochin' on each other

he kept trying to eat my ring

specifically taken so you can see his creepy tongue

itchin his back

also we got to feed the sea lions, and since no one else signed up for the feeding it was just us two for a super exclusive, private feeding. We're so cool.

"mhm. yupp. that's the good stuff"

Not pictured: my first funnel cake and fried ice cream. Or our resulting diabeetus.
